The Butler

This film was critically acclaimed and happens to be a truly marvelous piece of film!
I think that they have taken a leaf out of Steven Spielberg's book because this film is in a similar style to Lincoln (but with a different piece of history) and truly deserves all the awards that it did and didn't win!

Instead of being about freeing slaves, it's about the Black history in America that links Martin Luther King and John F Kennedy together. It's all the history that I studied for GCSE. If any of you have seen 'The Help', it's on similar lines to that, but more historical in terms of focusing on politics.

Forrest Whitaker was amazing in it. I'd never heard of him but it's not a name you can forget. He's got a voice like Louis Armstrong, but less growley. It's a lovely, rich voice that you'd know anywhere. It takes you through life at the whitehouse and how one generation could have a very different approach to the next. Your history helps to mold you and it can really change the way you are, from the way you used to be. It's got a lot of familiar faces, with Mariah Carey and Oprah Winfrey in the cast, as well as Alex Pettyfer. It was the film that i never got round to seeing in the cinema but really wanted to see. It was easy to watch and teaches you a lot. I loved the film and will put it on my list of the top ten films ever invented (that I have seen).

Feel free to add suggestions to my list, as time goes on i will change films that are on it to make room for new films, or films that i've only just got round to watching.

Next post is on An American In Paris
