This one has come closer than was intended but one should not pass the opportunity to watch Saving Mr Banks.
A background into the life of the writer of Mary Poppins. How the book becomes a film and how a very stubborn woman manages to have her mind changed by Walt Disney.
Played by Emma Thompson, P. Traverse absolutely hates cartoons and most musicals. She has been refusing to allow Disney to make a film of it for about 20 years and now she has finally agreed. When she starts she tells them that they are doing everything wrong. She doesn't want Dick Van Dyke to play Burt and she states clearly that the film is not about saving the children, it's about saving the father. They re-write the ending so that Mr Banks fixes the kite and they all go off and fly a kite.
Most of the characters are based on someone from her childhood. Mary Poppins is based on the aunt that her father doesn't like. Her father, Traverse Goff, (Colin Farrell) likes to escape to the fantasy world, creating all kinds of stories and adventures. He actually works in a bank and drinks a lot. He's very close to getting fired but has a chance to clean up for the sake of his daughters.
Can't say anything more, it's spoiling the film, but it is a great film!
