Fritz Lang makes his first appearance on this years blog with the film M.
Metropolis was on the blog last year and it was a silent movie so it was easy enough to follow and there was a lot to say about it. On the other hand, M is in German and subbed by Australians into English. Because of the language, if you miss any part of the film then you are struggling to keep up until the end of the film.
The performance of the film goes to Peter Lorre who's performance as M really came to life in the last few scenes of the film. I love watching someone give off such a convincing performance as a criminally insane person as that. Those last few scenes are the scenes that really stick in my head and stay with me because it showed off the class of acting in that era, more than that, it showed off what true ability to act really is and it is a quality that is rare to find from upcoming actors.
At times hard to follow but then again, it is Fritz Lang and it is a great film!
