I was given this for my last birthday and was kinda scepticle of it and until my sister came back here for a holiday I had managed to avoid watching it at all costs. The last two musicals that they said were really good were in fact the Madness musical and Rock of Ages and both of them were terrible.
Sunshine on Leith is different though. This musical has a story and some great songs. It is a step above Mama Mia just because it has more of a slightly serious plot and isn't entirely featuring only the songs of Abba. I love ABBA but even so- it's a great happy film but nothing more whereas this film isn't so much of a happy film, just more of a musical with a good selection of songs in it.
I don't know any of the actors in this film but it is good to learn new faces i guess.
Because this film is set in Edinburgh it is featuring the musical of the only band that we would associate with Scotland- The Proclaimers!
