Another film that became a blockbuster mega hit when it was released. It was one of the posters that Jimmy Carr slightly adapted on the big fat quiz of the year so it had to have been a film that had done really well.
First up and most importantly, Tom Hardy was once again incredible. Every film I see him in I have to stop and actually spend time trying to work out who this guy is, why do I know him and in the end I bring IMDB. Rarely do I have to do that to any actor more than once. I was impressed with him because even when I did think that it was him, when I thought that it looked a little like Tom Hardy I wasn't ever entirely convinced.
This film ticks all the boxes: Simple plot? Yes. Superb acting? Yes, Action? Yes, Great production? Yes. Everything is in this film. I've said that the plot was simple- Women are being forced to have children and then have their children taken away so that they can be turned in to war machines so they run away. With the help of Max they manage to get there in the end. What the film really is, is a long constant fight on a road race. It's not something that has you constantly questioning what you are seeing and it something that you can watch in a relaxed way.
The fourth installment of the Mad Max franchise but these films were made before the millennium so if you weren't aware of the other films then that would be why (also don't worry because I wasn't aware of them either). The film was considered and work was done on it in 1997 and then all the way up to 2010 sporadically. In 2010 Tom Hardy was actually cast in the main role. It is strange that the film was completed in 2012 but only released in 2015. If i had to hedge a bet as to why it was held back I would say that it was probably because of all the films that were released in 2013 (Despicable Me 2, World War Z, Iron Man 3, Superman Man Of Steel etc), if it wasn't for this reason and someone who reads this post knows the answer then can they either comment with the answer or post the answer on the facebook page (see the links bellow to the side of the blog).
The film won six academy awards but not for best actor/ actress or supporting actor/actress as they were taken by the likes of Leo DiCaprio in 'The Revenant'. Released in a year when there were so many films that took awards and with this film not being the standout film released that year it is impressive that it came away with six awards from the 88th academy awards. Mad Max Furry Road is like what would happen if Gladiator met The Fast and The Furious- the driving and the combat but this time all in one place, minus Vin Diesel and Russel Crowe.
