Source Code

Jake Gyllenhaal as an undercover agent who appears to be suffering from amnesia  because he has no idea where he is and last remembers being in the middle east.

The film feels short, it flows but at times it flows too fast- there is nothing to slow the pace down a little. Colter Stevens gets several attempts to locate the bomb on a train which will kill hundreds of people. The programme called Source Code allows him to retry this mission as many times over as it takes until he uncovers the bomb. In real time the train hasn't actually left the platform, it is a programme similar to the matrix that allows him to go to things that aren't real before they have happened and keep going back. Every time that he gets it wrong and the train goes round a certain bend the train blows up and he comes back to being conscious in his cell, only being able to talk to the captain in charge of the programme. Eventually he gets it right and passes on the information to the programme leaders who arrest the bomb makes and the train and all the passengers on board are absolutely fine.

As always there is a downside to the programme with this downside typically being a woman. He can't help himself, no one ever can, there has to be a love attraction in a film otherwise it is hardly considered to be worth watching.

It wasn't a great performance from Gyllenhaal, he is an overrated actor who fails to convince. He doesn't have the same physique that Tom Cruise has or even the same charm as Cruise. Playing slightly disturbed characters is the best that he can do and all that he should do. I wouldn't be terrified of him if he was pointing a gun at me, i'd just consider him to be a coward because he doesn't even look like he would win in a hand to hand combat fight. If you are going to be in action films then you need to look the part and he doesn't. Emotion is not great from him, this is a guy that has been on the seen for more than 15 years, he should have learnt how to act by now.

I've now seen it all and thanks for all of you who waited for this post to be updated, it's been a busy few days and it hasn't been easy to find the time to watch and entire film.
